Job Summary: This Solution Architect must live in the Atlanta, GA metro area and may be required to travel up to 50% of the time with some overnight travel expected.

 The Solution Architect (SA) works with enterprise class customers to solve IT challenges by architecting and designing comprehensive IT infrastructure solutions combining the capabilities of market leading hardware, software and services with solutions from across a range of technologies - compute, storage, virtualization, business continuity, business intelligence, security, networking, etc.  Solution Architects must have strong technical acumen complimented by relationship and selling skills. SAs will work with Account Executives, Product Systems Engineers and Mainline partners to architect, design, present and propose solutions.  The results expected from a SA's involvement include the building of Mainline loyalty, increased business, strategic and innovative usage of market leading technologies, and higher customer satisfaction. 

The role of the Solution Architect is to provide architectural and complex solution advice and support that enables a customer to confidently accelerate purchase and deployment decisions.  This guidance should help the customer realize return on their IT investment and view Mainline as their primary technology solution partner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team with the Account Executive(s) in the Atlanta metro area to expand the Mainline business in their accounts and develop new accounts.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Industries and companies they support.
  • Design and architect solutions for customers that integrate multiple product lines and services.
  • Engage with customers' technical community and to be viewed as a technology and business thought leader.
  • Engage early in the sales cycle with recommendations on technology directions, new application deployments, platform selection and infrastructure enablement.
  • Provide thought leadership to the profession through contributions: Publications, authoring technical articles or journals, and providing feedback to solution partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in customer facing environments with excellent communication and sales skills.


Specific vendor certifications are not required but would be a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Solution Designer - Lead the analysis of customers' business processes and IT challenges, design comprehensive solutions that integrate smoothly into customers' environments, and leverages the appropriate vendor partner products in order to increase Mainline sales.
  • Technology Advisor - Be viewed as a consultative technology leader by customers and the Mainline team in promoting the applicability of the solution(s) to solving customers' business and technology problems.
  • Facilitator -Be a leader in fostering communication among customers, partners and Mainline colleagues.
  • Project Advisor - Actively participate with Mainline Professional Services to develop and deploy the appropriate services from Mainline and partners on projects. The Solution Architect may on occasion perform billable work but the primary focus of the role is pre-sales.

  • Requires use of general office equipment and personal computer equipment.
