Job Summary

Troubleshooting issues with networking and collaboration systems. Designed and implemented new standards for core business infrastructure including networking, collaboration, services, and Servers. Recommended improvements, design solutions and integration solutions for networking and collaboration for many customers. Managed firewall, network monitoring and server monitoring both on and off-site using Cisco Meraki, FileNet, Labtech and SolarWinds. Trained junior members of IT team regarding networking, Cisco collaboration and troubleshooting. Monitored network performance and provided network performance statistical reports for both real-time and historical measurements. Top level of escalation on break fix for all clients for collaboration and networking issues. Experience required managing UC, UCS, ACS, CUCM, CUCX, UCCX, IM&P and consistently meet deadlines and requirements for all production work orders. Implement company policies, technical procedures, and standards for preserving the integrity and security of data, reports and access. Provided documentation on Initial configuration of systems and troubleshooting of processes to all members of IT team. Ensured network, system and data availability and integrity through preventative maintenance and upgrades with minimum downtime. Heavy participation in POC with Cisco for CUCM, CUC, UCCX, WebEx Teams, Meetings, IM&P and BE4K Design,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Validates the client networking environment by reviewing system configuration; directing and/or undertaking system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing best practice standards.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring infrastructure performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; supporting upgrades; collaborating with 3rd party support resources and fellow IT engineers on network optimization.
  • Secures network system by communicating policies, defining access practices.
  • Provides training and knowledge sharing for clients with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence
  • Works closely with other departments/organizations and collaborates with other IT staff.
  • Evaluates and provides expertise on all data circuits across the client enterprise; analyzes bandwidth requirements and provides proactive cost and capacity planning.
  • Develops and provides guidance on multi-year roadmap for network architecture including capacity, availability, and redundancy/diversity aspects. Forecasts useful life and replacement planning for all core network infrastructure.
  • Documents network problems and resolution for client reference.
  • Communicate approaches for network user account management, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam, intrusion detection.
  • Oversee updates/patches for network devices, software, and network security.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of networking essentials.
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a cross-functional IT service team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solution Designer ' Analyze a customer's business and IT challenges and design a comprehensive solution that integrates smoothly into the smoothly into the customer's environment, is checked carefully for reliability, availability, and scalability, and leverages the appropriate vendor partner products to increase Mainline sales.
  • Technology Advisor ' Lead the Mainline team in promoting the applicability of the SE's focus solution(s) to achieve buy-in from the enterprise's management and IT communities, seeking to create new opportunities as well as advance existing sales efforts.
  • Methodologist ' Lead customers and the Mainline team in selecting and employing the use of appropriate methodologies and design tools to achieve the desired business and technical results.
  • Facilitator ' Be a leader in fostering communication among customer, partner, and Mainline teams.
  • Project Advisor ' Lead the Mainline team in ensuring that the business vision has been satisfied through the design, adapting to inevitable design compromises, and modified nonfunctional requirements, suggesting solutions to customer skill gaps, correcting architectural errors, and observing the deployed system to harvest lessons for future projects.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of exp. Designing, implementing, and managing large scale Cisco and non-Cisco networks and F5 load Balancers.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.
  • Minimum: Cisco CCNP Route/Switch certification or CCNA with extensive datacenter experience.
  • Cisco: LAN/WAN with an emphasis on Cisco ASR Router and Catalyst Switches. Thorough knowledge the Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS).
  • Cisco Collaboration experience with an emphasis on installing, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco UC, ACS, UCS,UCM, UCCX, Webex components, and IM&P utilizing SIP, SCCP, H.323, and Audio and Video codecs.
  • Wireless: Meraki, FileNet
  • Experience linking Cisco devices to other non-Cisco networking equipment. IE- Lenovo-IBM, Dell, HP, Juniper, F5, Meraki etc.
  • Experience linking network devices to VMWare and/or IBM Power Virtualized infrastructure.
  • Networking Hardware/Protocols: Switches, Routers, Hubs & load-balancers. Protocols- TCP/IP, Layer3, Layer2, DNS, QoS, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, Spanning-Tree, VLAG, OTV and MPLS.
  • Candidate must be accustomed to pre-building test and POC configurations in a lab environment.
  • Candidate must be skilled at efficiently opening support cases with the technology OEMs.
  • Travel 25%
